CALGARY, Jan. 10, 2025 — The AGAT Foundation, in partnership with the Prostate Cancer Centre (PCC) has raised a total of $873,000 after a month-long fundraising campaign in Nov. 2024, wherein the AGAT Foundation matched donations up to $350,000.
As part of the PCC’s Keep It In Alberta campaign, all of the money raised through this initiative will stay in Alberta. Donations will be used to fund a brand-new MAN VAN®, the second of its kind that the AGAT Foundation has contributed towards.
“Thanks to the AGAT Foundation, we’ve been able to reach more Alberta men and their families,” says Jeff Davison, CEO, Prostate Cancer Centre. “We’ve been able to get into vulnerable communities in a lot of rural, remote places that we would’ve not been able to get to without the support of the MAN VAN program.”
The MAN VAN mobile screening clinic offers prostate cancer screening, and mental health and wellness services for Albertans, particularly in remote communities.
“As a leader in science, technology, and analytical testing, we understand how essential access to testing and diagnostics is across all communities,” says Marissa Reckmann, CEO, AGAT Laboratories and Director, AGAT Foundation. “At the AGAT Foundation, we represent so many corporations and very generous donors that are thrilled to be part of important initiatives just like this.
“This is a province we want to always make sure we’re giving back to.”
The AGAT Foundation will continue to support raising funds for operational costs, to ensure the MAN VAN is there to support Albertan men for years to come.
“Every single dollar counts,” says Davison. “There’s no donation that’s too small or too big.
“For a disease that has little to no symptoms, catching it early is everything to these men and their families.”
One in six Alberta men is diagnosed with prostate cancer.
