Hand Sanitizer Made in Calgary Donated to Community in Partnership with Shell Canada

When the COVID-19 pandemic threatened supply chains — some more niche than others — the AGAT Foundation started looking at ways it could use AGAT Laboratories facilities to support employees and the immediate community.

In partnership with Shell Canada, the collaboration started with discovery and strategy to uncover how they could support Canadians during a difficult time around the COVID-19 pandemic.

Relying on Shell Canada’s expertise in specialty chemistry alongside AGAT’s own specialty chemistry lab in Calgary, Alberta, the pair manufactured and distributed thousands of bottles of hand sanitizer among staff, industry members, and the community.

Produced by AGAT Laboratories’ chemists to protect our community, the solution features 75 percent isopropanol with non-medicinal ingredients — hydrogen peroxide, glycerol, and water. A future batch included eucalyptus oil as a scented option.

Proudly labeled as “Made in Canada”, it also reads “topical antiseptic cleanser for personal hand hygiene to help prevent the spread of microorganisms.”
